Since 1952, the Alvis family of farmers and cheesemakers has been producing fine cheeses at Lye Cross Farm, situated a few miles from Cheddar village.

The multi-award-winning family business is constantly investing in new technology while honoring tradition. Having 4,300 acres of pasture, which is home to a herd of 1,200 dairy cattle, it continuously supports sustainable agriculture, aiming to maintain the long-term fertility of the soil. The entire production and packaging process takes place in its state-of-the-art facilities, ensuring maximum quality control and minimum energy footprint.

Passionately caring for the environment, its animals and employees, the company also implements an innovative educational program that introduces school children to farm life.

Lye Cross Farm exports conventional and organic cheeses to more than 40 countries, its Cheddars being the most popular.
